About: Cardamom essential oil’s aroma  is joyful, fresh and clean with a spicy finish – a scent that is easily recognizable from mouthwatering foods and teas. It is one of the best oils for occasional digestive upset and nausea, and can be diffused or blended in a vapor rub to promote healthy lungs and decongestion. Cardamom can also be added to massage oils to help support muscles after strenuous exertion.

History: Cardamom has been used for over 3000 years in India and China and is an essential herb in Eastern and Western herbal pharmacopeias. Ayurveda and TCM use the seeds for digestive support, congestion and for its calming and soothing effect. It is best known for culinary use and as a widely traded spice with high market value.

Common Uses:

To support healthy digestion, mix 7 drops Cardamom, 3 drops Fennel, and 3 drops Ginger in ½ ounce carrier.  Massage a small amount into the abdomen.

For respiratory support and mental clarity, diffuse 2 drops Cardamom, 2 drops Tulsi, 2 drops Peppermint, 2 drops Lemon and about 2oz wate

Blending Recommendations: Bergamot, Cedar Atlas, Clary Sage, Clove Bud, Coffee, Eucalyptus globulus, Eucalyptus radiata, Fir Balsam, Fir Douglas, Fir Silver, Frankincense, Geranium, Ginger, Grapefruit, Lavender, Lavender Spike, Lavender Reserve, Neroli, Sweet Orange, Patchouli, Peppermint, Petitgrain, Rose Otto, Sandalwood, Tea Tree, Tulsi, Vanilla Perfume, Vetiver, Ylang Ylang.

Safety Information: Cardamom is non-toxic, but it is not recommended for use with children. For topical use it is best diluted to less than 10% to avoid the possibility of skin irritation. Average dilution for general use is around 0.5 – 4% (3-23 drops per ounce of carrier).
